Pacquiao calls for patriotism among youth

Boxing icon Sen. Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao said that he was thinking of filing a bill at the senate that seeks the inclusion of a subject on patriotism in Philippine education, for patriotism have lost its meaning among Filipinos.

"Kasi wala na e. Karamihan sa atin, Pilipino magtraydor sa kanyang kapwa at magtraydor sa kanyang bansa. So we should teach that patriotism na mayroon tayong loyalty sa ating bansa." Pacquiao said

After the Commission on Appointments promoted Sen. Manny Pacquiao from lieutenant Colonel to Colonel  as a reservist of the Philippine Army, Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Pacquiao talked about what he would do for the country.

"Lahat basta proud ako na kakantahin palagi ang bayang magiliw... Ang mamatay nang dahil sa'yo."

He said that he usually gets emotional whenever he hears the line in the Philippine national anthem that a freedom-loving citizen would love to die for his country.

Pacquiao explained how some people do not take the national anthem by heart whenever they sing it, he said he has observed people who keeps on moving, and not giving proper attention to the national anthem when it is being sung.

"Wag na natin kantahin yung Pambansang awit natin kung sa bunganga lang tayo, tapos wala naman... ipakita natin yung loyalty natin." He explained

As a reservist, Pacquiao said that he is thinking of being part of a regular military force to support and inspire soldiers. He has been trained to handle guns and ready to fight against terrorism for it was his duty and trained for it.
