Mass Communication graduate from University of the
Philippines (UP) Cebu was captured and detained at Negros Oriental jail after
the military charged her of illegal possession of firearms and explosive along
with five others.
Myles
Albisan, 21 years old, together with the other five were brought immediately to
the Hall of Justice in the capital of Dumaguete in Negros Oriental to undergo
inquest proceedings on the complaint that filed against them by the military.
In a
radio interview, Albisan admitted that she and her companions are in the
village of Luyang, Mabinay town, Negros Oriental just to discuss poverty with
farmers there. She denied that the firearms confiscated does not belong to them
but to the ‘organization’ she didn’t detailed.
Albisan
and her companions were also accused as New People’s army (NPA) guerilla
members after they were arrested, allegedly claiming that they are a communist
rebels.
Hence,
the mother of Myles Albasin, Grace, defend her daughter in a press conference
in UP Cebu on Thursday after visiting her and says that, “My daughter is not a member of NPA, If she
was in Negros Oriental for an immersion program with farmers there, then what’s
wrong with that?”
Grace
also added that she didn’t teach Myles to be radical yet her daughter knows and
experienced what was going on in daily basis of living.
Albisan’s
mother major concern now was her personal safety while her daughter was still
detained in jail.
